Puss in Boots 2 surprised me with how good it was becoming my number one movie of 2022.
Top Gun Maverick is proof that you can have a great movie built on a nostalgic property that can be loved by old fans AND bring in new fans as well.

I think it's strange he doesn't even mention Bullet Train since it seems like it's right up his alley.
personally I think puss in boots 2 deserves some recognition as well as one of the best animated movies not just this year but in a long while

I wouldn't have put Batman into that list. That movie feels just like style without substance and characterisation just felt really flimsy to me. I've seen the Nolan ones several times but this one didn't even create the hint of an itch to watch again.

i wish avatar 2 didnt make the list. visuals were great but the writing of the movie was 2 steps below Avatar 2009 and smells of disney shit wrapped around nice christmas paper. james cameron is feeling "regrets" on putting action with lots of guns in his movies and it shows here. there is an inserted disney princess, characterizations for the new cast are as flat as pandora's whale heads and this was the first 3 hour film ive watched where nothing gets established after 150 minutes.
I will add Dune to this list.
