As the city prepares to welcome back one of the world’s most beloved festivals, residents and visitors alike are eagerly awaiting the arrival of colorful floats, lively Music, and of course, plenty of beads.
For many, Mardi Gras is more than just a party – it’s a time-honored tradition that dates back to the early 19th century. The first Mardi Gras celebration in New Orleans was held in 1812, and ever since then the city has celebrated the holiday with parades, parties, and plenty of good ol’ fashioned revelry.
Mardi Gras 2023 will be no exception, as the city is already preparing for a spectacular celebration. Local organizations are hard at work planning the parades, creating the floats, and organizing the Music, all of which will come together to make the 2023 Mardi Gras one of the most memorable yet.
The official Mardi Gras parade route has already been announced, beginning in the heart of downtown and winding its way through the French Quarter and along the Mississippi River. As the floats make their way through the city, they will be accompanied by marching bands, dancers, and of course plenty of bead-tossing revelers.
The city is also planning a variety of special events to coincide with the festivities, including a 5K run/walk and a Mardi Gras-themed dinner. The dinner will feature traditional New Orleans cuisine, along with live Music and dancing.
