Great stuff Heath I wish I had access to all those releases ! As a soul collector I loved the info on Young Holt Unlimited ( Brunswick Records ) & The Dee Clark comp his music is still played at Northern Soul events in the UK especially That's My Girl. Also the compilation that featured Jackie Wilson Bobby Freeman both these guys recorded some fantastic soul tracks take a listen to Jackie Wilsons Album Beautiful Day on Brunswick records You could just drop the stylus on anywhere as every track is a winner Especially…. Because of You / This love is mine / Don't you know I love you / What'cha gonna do about love check it out on you tube Brunswick / Dakar records there was so much talent especially writers producers arrangers Eugene Record Sonny Sanders Gerald Sims
Another Jazz artist you might want to check out is Donnie McCaslin. He is in the same ballpark as And Ud and OTOOTO.
So jealous that you got to hear Wanda Jackson live! I’d love to hear more about that. It must have been a great experience!
I've got the Stiff Little Fingers set. Those Bear Family 10" sets look scrumptious.
The music vids are always my favorite!
I was scribbling a ton of these titles and will be checking them out and ordering a few!
Always love your music related videos Heath. The Merrell Fankhauser and Mirage sets particularly caught my eye. Nice haul! We Played Games is my favourite John Fred&hPB tune.
What a smorgasbord of tunes! The Heartbreakers did at least one album of surf music, under the name the Blue Stingrays. It was re-released on vinyl last year and is very fine. It includes "Goldfinger".
Love the Teenagers from Outer Space T-shirt!
Have you heard about the original version of "Tutti Fruity" by Little Richard? Hooboy, there was apparently a HISTORY there lol…
I should post something about music (like how I’ve been wanting to get into Wanda Jackson’s stuff), but I can’t not note how cool it is that you’re wearing a “Teenagers from Outer Space” t-shirt.
Great video. I love your enthusiasm for great music. Happy new year. 👍🏻
Somehow I’ve been a jazz fan since I was a kid, and its always been a constant in my life. Cool you’re getting into it! And jazz is definitely much bigger in Europe and Canada right now, so a lot of it is coming from those places.
I've never been into records but my dad was. Close by there's a record shop called Needledrop that has lots of records and brings other media like VHS, DVD, Blu-Ray and some videogames. I have bought like 600 VHS here. Anyway he even brings movie soundtracks, like horror movies for example. Neat batch of music good showing and cool video Heath!👉😃👈
Love the music stuff too, im 33 but love 50s and 60s popular music, got a big record collection. Keep up the great work, happy new year!
Pop culture discussion with your daughter for a video idea, my kids are at the age where they are starting to be critical of media. I would love to see that.
